Ranchi, August 27, 2025 – In a groundbreaking initiative to make advanced cancer treatment more affordable, a special program was organised in Ranchi to launch low-cost immunotherapy. The event, led by Dr. Satish Sharma, Senior Medical Oncologist and Program Director, marked the formal introduction of Toripalimab, a cost-effective immunotherapy drug.
Immunotherapy has redefined cancer care globally by offering improved survival and better outcomes for patients with advanced cancers. However, in India, its high cost has kept it out of reach for the majority of patients. The introduction of Toripalimab is expected to bridge this gap and provide new hope to cancer patients across Jharkhand and neighbouring states.
The launch event was attended by a diverse group of medical professionals, including medical oncologists, surgical oncologists, radiation oncologists, and other healthcare specialists. The gathering emphasised the collective responsibility of the medical community to ensure innovative treatments are both accessible and affordable.
Speaking at the event, Dr. Sharma said, “Cancer treatment should not be a privilege; it should be a right. With the introduction of Toripalimab, we are taking a major step forward in democratizing cancer care.”
